How does Levitra treat erectile dysfunction?

Levitra contains vardenafil, a prescription medicine for erectile dysfunction in adult men. It helps the erection response to sexual stimulation; it does not create desire or guarantee an erection.

Vardenafil is a PDE5 inhibitor, a medicine class that also includes sildenafil, tadalafil and avanafil. A consultation should address the cause of erectile difficulties and whether medicine is appropriate, rather than choosing a product solely from an advertised speed or success rate.

Timing and formulation matter

EMA information describes the usual film-coated-tablet timing as approximately 25 to 60 minutes before sexual activity. A high-fat meal can delay its effect. The prescribed dose and exact product instructions matter: this is not a promise of onset at a fixed minute.

Levitra also has a 10 mg orodispersible formulation. EMA product information says this is not bioequivalent to the 10 mg film-coated tablet. Do not exchange the formulations dose-for-dose without professional advice. The dissolvable product has its own instructions, including use without liquid.

Do not repeat a dose because the first did not produce the hoped-for response or combine it with another ED medicine yourself.

Who needs a safety check?

Nitrates used for chest pain are incompatible with vardenafil because the combination can dangerously lower blood pressure. Tell the clinician about heart disease, recent stroke or heart attack, blood-pressure problems, previous serious eye disease, kidney or liver problems, and every medicine or supplement you take.

The exact product information lists additional restrictions and interactions. Older age alone does not justify applying a universal reduced-dose rule; health conditions and interactions need individual assessment.

Headache, flushing and nasal symptoms can occur. An erection lasting more than four hours, sudden loss of vision or severe symptoms require urgent medical attention. If chest pain occurs, seek emergency care and tell responders when vardenafil was taken; do not take a nitrate yourself.

How should you compare ED medicines?

Choosing between Levitra, Viagra, Cialis and Spedra requires an individual discussion. Trials with different populations or outcome measures cannot establish which will work best for you.

Useful questions are whether you prefer planned or less tightly timed sexual activity, whether food affects the prescribed product, how previous treatment was tolerated, and which medicines interact with your existing treatment. These questions support a clinical discussion rather than an unsourced efficacy ranking.

If erectile difficulties are new, persistent or associated with other symptoms, arrange assessment. Buying another tablet without investigating the cause can delay appropriate care.
